Last Summer I had the opportunity to make a custom outfit for a mother of the groom. It's always nice when a client returns for a second custom dress - even after many years have passed. She wanted to be very comfortable for this late-September wedding, first and foremost. She also readily acknowledged that she needed an outfit that would suit her body type and age, without being too matronly. And she wanted a little bit of glitz.

Getting what you paid for - it's prom season!
This started out as a quick response to a newspaper article, but turned into a pretty long post. Just a warning!
Sunday mornings are very quiet in my house, a lazy time spent reading the paper (Boston Globe for me and Metrowest Daily News for my dh) and consuming way too much coffee. My husband broke the silence today with an outburst of "Aha! This is just begging for a response!" as he handed me an article from his paper.

Can we afford to NOT buy quality clothing? Book Review - Overdressed
My boss left this book on our lunch table a couple of weeks ago - this isn't an unusual happening, we are a group of ladies who share a love of reading besides the love of fabrics and sewing, so book swap is a regular feature in our warehouse. This one really resonated with me, and I thought it might with many of you also.
